About Me: Vanessa Opal June
You guys, I am so excited to finally bring my services to you. It’s been a lifelong journey from my love of art, to the tiniest spark of an idea, and finally making the leap and becoming a coach and healer. So to start off, I’ll share with you a bit about who I am, what I do and what brought me to create The Aesthete Life.
I grew up in Harlem, New York City and since I was fourteen I've attended some of the city's best-known art schools. At twenty, I decided to withdraw from Fordham University and try my hand at cooking—this change in direction allowed me to lend my artistic skills to a different medium: Sweets and pastries. For the next fifteen years, I got to travel to a myriad of cities and countries while taking the time to learn from fellow chefs, cooks and foodies; I am still humbled by the love and passion with which they all spoke about and handled food.
I am a deep believer in the law of dharma, so whatever I decide to do professionally, I need to find ways to put it to human service. I've volunteered at local farmers markets, apprenticed on a biodynamic farm and taught art and the importance of healthy eating to elementary school students. I realized that my passion for food education could benefit from learning how to become a more effective teacher, so I pivoted once again and began working with the NYC Department of Education at an elementary school in the South Bronx—and my heart grew ten sizes from the opportunity. Not only was this new experience fun and challenging, but it was so rewarding. I am now obsessed with understanding how each person learns, and how to structure lessons and content in a way that is unique to each individual.
With all of my life experiences laid out before me, I realized what I love to teach is how to use art, food and nature to live a happier, healthier life. And this is where the seed of The Aesthete Life was planted.✨
An Aesthete is someone with a deep connection with, or appreciation of art and nature. And, in all honesty, I know that living an aesthete lifestyle has helped me to grow, even when I’ve struggled, whether it was struggling with my anxiety or depression, everyday stress, career ennui—life. And I didn’t even realize that the one common denominator of every bump in my road was that I used creative outlets and moments in nature to get me through. This was the beginning of the concept for The Aesthete Life.
I specialize in intuitive arts, ecotherapy and food therapy as modalities for self-care. Developing The Aesthete Life is a natural result of years of self-care practice, artistic study, and my deep, sincere passion to take my talent and expertise and put it to human service; if anything that I’m doing or have lived through can help others to thrive, I will happily share.
Thanks for visiting my blog, and I look forward to helping you discover your most aesthetic self!🌿
